Joint statement of the Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Poland (ZPP) and the Federation of Employers of Ukraine (FEU) regarding the agreement reached between the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland and the representatives of organizations blocking border crossings with Ukraine
We, the Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Poland (ZPP) and the Federation of Employers of Ukraine (FEU), welcome the agreement reached today, according to which the protesters at the Polish-Ukrainian border have agreed to suspend the blockade for 1 month. The aim is to provide an opportunity for the Government of Poland, in collaboration with the Ukrainian side, to develop an effective system for regulating access to the markets of both countries.
We would also like to express our separate gratitude to the representatives of both countries for basing this agreement on the framework developed on the platform created by our associations during two rounds of negotiations held on December 8th and 16th, 2023, in Warsaw. It is important to note that as a result of the negotiations, involving both relevant associations and business representatives from both sides, as well as representatives of protesting organizations, preliminary agreements were reached. These agreements allowed for the easing of the blockade at border crossings and achieving a number of compromises with the strike organizers.
We hope that the governments of Poland and Ukraine will be able to develop a mutually beneficial system in the shortest possible time that will prevent similar situations in the future, as they have an extremely negative impact on the markets of both countries.
We also want to emphasize that the Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Poland (ZPP) and the Federation of Employers of Ukraine (FEU) are at the disposal of the Governments of Poland and Ukraine and are ready to provide all necessary assistance to continue mediating and developing the required solutions.
